Isn’t it amazing when you can control
your bedroom curtains’ movement in a single remote or when you can switch off
your heater even when you are out of your home?
Welcome to the era of remote sensors, technologies, software and what not!
The only vision being to control your things and
surroundings around you or even a little far away through some technology. This
vision was given a name and that’s what we call as Internet of Things. It’s one of the hot topics that has
been going around everywhere be it the web, your home or your workplace. So how
does it work and what is this Internet of Things. It’s a process or a concept
wherein you just connect a simple on and off switch to the internet and to the devices
controlled. This can be used to control any device around you starting from
your night lamp to the biggest of engines like the airplane engine.
The analyst firm Gartner
says that by 2020 there will be over 26 billion connected devices.
So what are these connections?
The connections are going to be between people to people,
people to things and things to things. If a connection can be made, then it
will be connected. Saying this, developing these connections has a greater
impact on the lifestyle of ourselves and also others.
The
development being huge raises a doubt among us about the Security. The data
captured in these connections, will they be secured and how about the data
storage? These doubts will still be going rounds when someone is taking up the
topic on IoT. With companies developing different strategies to handle security
and storage challenges, we always have someone to bring on solutions for the
challenges faced.
